Wind and Hail Storm Damage

Early this morning a strong wind and hail storm rolled through. It left damage across a lot of the place.

The apple breeding project took the worst of it. Some trees were snapped, stripped, and shaken hard enough to drop fruit all over the ground. That is painful to see after the work that has gone into getting those trees established.

The garden was hit hard too. Plants were flattened, fabric was pulled loose, and the whole thing looked like it had been beaten down in minutes. The house siding also took a beating from the hail.

There is not much romance in a day like this. It is mostly cleanup, assessment, and figuring out what can be salvaged. But that is part of the work too. Storms show what is fragile, what needs repaired, and where the next round of attention has to go.

For now we are thankful everyone is safe, and we will start putting things back in order one job at a time.
